Stuart Miller

I started drumming back in the ’80s, mainly self-taught I would listen, learn and practise at any given opportunity, the passion was already there! The next step was to join a band and with Harlow based outfit ‘Beat the System’ I served a great apprenticeship. But it was the subsequent years, playing on and off in covers bands, that enabled me to refine my technique and my passion to grow. However, life on the road, came to a close when I took a break to start a family, although I still took session work wherever and whenever just to conserve the momentum. I’m still churning out kids, and earlier this year sustained a wrist fracture teaching my 8-year-old boy to skateboard. Maybe one day I’ll actually accept my age, stop dicking about and be a bit more sensible.
Whilst recovering and contemplating my drumming future I realised how much I missed playing live and band life in general so took a look at the 'drummer wanted' ads............
Low and behold SKM, were looking for a new drummer!
Not sure how my wrist would hold up, having not long had my plaster removed, I took some painkillers, gave the audition my best shot and landed the gig.
It’s been a privilege to be taken on by SKM. When I first listened to their latest album I immediately felt a connection to music, the songs were right up my street. It’s great to be working with such accomplished musicians and I'm loving adding my mark to the SKM sound. I can’t match the comprehensive CVs of the other band members, especially playing Glasto but I have played live on stage at the Indigo2 which was a great experience.
Here's to the next chapter!!
